Playing Tag

All right, people. Was this tagging thing created to encourage those of us who never update our blogs? If so, great idea! I was motivated this morning. Thanks for the tag Amanda.
Okay, here goes...
First the rules:
~The rules are to link the person who sent this to you and leave a comment on their blog so their readers can visit yours.
~Post the rules on your blog
~Share 7 strange/weird facts about yourself
~Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, linking their blog
7 Strange/Weird facts about myself:
1. My favorite strange fact is that when we lived in Birmingham (in an urban area - not the country) we had 4 chickens show up in our yard one day and move in. We named them Breakfast (because she had a bad leg and we knew she would go first), Lunch, Dinner, and Helen. Breakfast didn't make it but the others were still there when we moved.

2. Almost all women on my husband's side of the family were born on the 22nd of a month - grandmother, mom, neice. Well, so was I. I married into the right family.

3. I was the first open adoption in the state of Texas. I look forward to adopting my own very soon!

4. Our cat, Gimpy, was already injured when we got him. He then lived through a tornado and falling 4 stories out of the window of our loft.

5. I can't stand anything to do with teeth. You should see me when I have to go to the dentist. This also extends into my work because I teach 2nd grade and have a serious issue with wiggly teeth.

6. This one isn't that strange but it's fun. Our restaurant is opening in 3 weeks. See the link at the top of our blog.

7. This is somewhat related to the last one. This is a busy time for us. Ty is running a restaurant and I am teaching school. In our spare time we are opening our own restaurant (with some wonderful partners), remodeling our house, and adopting 2-3 darlings from Ethiopia! We are busy but wouldn't have it any other way.

Now let's see who I am going to tag....

Alright, I'll play...but I'm gonna need some more time to get my creative juices flowing. They were all used up on the last one!

This is funny, my mother in law is Helen, I am going to tell her your story :). I am glad your homestudy went well, sorry I missed the news. Good luck with the new restaurant!

Don't retract your tag, I actually really like them (and this one is actually thought provoking). I'll get to it next week (and after a weekend with the new great-grandparents...I may have more strange facts!).

Hi! I only recently discovered your blog. I don't know if infertility is a part of your story, but I wanted to tell you about a local group called WAITT. We began as four women in North Alabama who all had infertility blogs. We decided to get together once a month at a Huntsville restaurant to talk, laugh, and generally compare notes. We're all in different places on the road to parenthood. I myself am done with IF treatments and am hoping to adopt through the state's foster system. Anyway, if you are interested in possibly joining us, you can visit our blog at: www.waitt.wordpress.com, find our group on meetup.com, or just e-mail me. Regardless, I wish you luck on your new restaurant (my husband and I will be visiting!) and with your plans to expand your family!

Jennifer- I wanted to thank you for your comment on my site about my school difficulties. It was your words that got me to speak up about what was happening, and how things needed to change ASAP. It seems like so many times the majority of kids don't get what they need due to the needs of one child- not fair for them, not fair for the one student who is being highlighted. Being a teacher can be hard work, especially when the administration doesn't support their teachers OR the students. I hate the fact that I'm feeling so burnt out and am questioning remaining a teacher. I wonder if things would be different if I didn't work in a school were over 80% of the population is in poverty and are English language learners. Who knows.

Why can't I be more like those awesome high school teachers who make a change in their poverty-ridden schools and are featured in the movies?

On to other things- how's the restaurant coming along? The website is awesome. I was pleased as punch to click on it and see the newest updates.

Hey, I just looked at your blog and hope all is well. I like your chickens' names! We live in Birmingham and recently returned home with our daughter Roxana, whom we adopted from Kazakhstan. Good luck on your journey!
