Well, well, well.... How many of these "we are still alive" blogs is one site entitled to in a 6 month period?
Life is good.
On the adoption front, we received the rough draft of our homestudy from our social worker this week. It was really strange to read all of that information in one place. Our lives in a few pages...strange is the only word I have right now. Just some proofreading and editing and we will be finished! Moving along...I can't wait to have those little darlings running around the restaurant.
Oh, the restaurant...It is open! We have all worked 80+ hours this week including our day jobs. It is so worth it. For me, it is fun to see the kiddos in my class come and mash their faces on the restaurant glass to see if they can see Mrs. Cofield. Teachers do live outside of school...
Thanks to all you bloggers and friends out there for the encouraging words and support!

Glad to hear that the restaurant is up and running!
You're right, it is really weird to read about yourselves.
Wow--congrats on your two big accomplishments--the restaurant opening and the finishing of your home study.
We would love to come down and check out the restaurant. Chris' parents said it was really good and they enjoyed meeting you all and JJ. We are going to Chicago in a few weeks but will let you know when we head down there! Glad the opening went well.
Such exciting news! Maybe we'll get everything done around the same time and will get to meet each other in Ethiopia. Now wouldn't that be great!!!!
As far as The Wizard of Oz. I ended up reading a slightly modified version of the story once I did a quick read-though of the original. Seemed a bit too intense for first graders (yikes! I had no idea either!). In the end, we did watch the movie (it was the planned classroom treat for the last day of "I love to read" month) and put together a door montage that won third place in our school door decorating contest. That's right. Woop-woop! (I still say we got jipped, but I'm trying to set a good example)
I would recommend the movie- my kids were amazed at the differences between the two. It led to some great writing pieces.
As for me- I'm OVER The Wizard of Oz. A person can only take so much, right? ;-)
Congrats on getting the restaurant open! What a feat! And congrats on the homestudy! How long do you anticipate the wait to be after you submit your dossier?
How are the home renovations going? With so much on your plate!
Cant'wait to see pics of little feet running around too.
I just discovered your blog tonight from a link on another blog. I am in Huntsville too and adopting a little cupcake from Ethiopia. I can't wait to come eat at the restaurant. Jesus Lovin Momma on my page is also in Huntsville and adopting Ethiopia. We should get together soon.
Congrats! We got our home study backs this week, also!!!
P.S. I loved the Huntsville times article this morning! Fantastic! How crazy that I would read about you the night before and your article would be featured the next morning!
Hey check our our blog. news.
I have also been wanting to start a group and now we know of about 4 families here. We should meet up soon! My email is ilikelibraries@yahoo.com
Hey there,
A friend of mine here at work told me about you. :) I work for the paper and i'm also adopting from Ethiopia. I tried to email you thru your school email a while ago but I'm guessing you didn't get it. I was so excited to hear about another Huntsville family adopting from Ethiopia. I see you've already met Merideth...she's another Huntsville family adopting from Ethiopia. I've also met another couple who already have a baby home from ET. She's a teacher too. You may know her already. We need to all get together. :) my email is addiesmommy@hotmail.com
